The capital of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo, close to Mount Kinabalu, islands and rainforest.
Kota Kinabalu is a relaxed seaside city and the gateway to Sabah. Just offshore, the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park have beaches and good snorkelling.
Inland, Mount Kinabalu rises to 4,095 metres in a UNESCO listed national park. Further afield you can see orangutans at Sepilok and wildlife along the Kinabatangan river.
