Bahrain is a small island kingdom joined to Saudi Arabia by a causeway, and Manama is its friendly, walkable capital. Bab Al Bahrain leads into the old souk, while the Bahrain National Museum and the Al Fateh Grand Mosque are a short drive away.
Qal'at al Bahrain, a hilltop fort on layers of settlements going back four thousand years, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The twin sails of the Bahrain World Trade Center and the Bahrain Bay waterfront show the newer face of the city.
Motorsport fans come for the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir. The cooler months from November to March are the most pleasant.
